Angelina Jolie visited an IRC center for survivors of sexual and gender based violence on May 10. The visit to the Rainbo Centre was part of Jolie's three-day mission to Sierra Leone in her role as goodwill ambassador for the United Nations refugee agency. She spoke to some of the survivors and learned about the government's role in sensitizing its citizens about this form of violence.

"The work done at the Rainbo Centre is so important; helping survivors of sexual and gender based violence overcome their traumas is no easy task," said Jolie. "I simply wish these women had never gone through this violence."
